X-Transbots have revealed some news and sketches for their third party figure Mega Ftoresu Makishimasu. Which, if you didn't read between the letters is likely a homage to the G1 Fortress Maximus. They have posted the following comments about this figure: "Our designer currently is working for a new redesign of Mega Ftoresu Makishimasu that mostly G1 homage! He has multiple alt mode configurations, transforming into a relatively compact "city" mode, "battle station" and more. See the images and read the full details after the jump.
The folks at Planet Iacon have posted some images of the soon to be released Takara Tomy Transformers Prime Arms Micron capsule toys wave 1. As you may know, Transformers are their own universe over in Japan. More than once, American fans have clashed with some of the cultural mainstays such as the Transformers KISS series. Find the Transformers Prime Extra video that pait up Japanese-Pop (J-Pop) with toy culture. The five videos posted on Youtube are presented by J-pop idol group, Tokyo Girls. They are quire different, and cute, but you'll have to judge for yourself if this is your cup of tea after the jump.
Takara Tomy has unveiled two Optimus Prime exclusive figures as the International Tokyo Toy Show. The figures are Transformers Prime Shining First Edition Optimus Prime and Transformers United Black Optimus Prime. Each are retailing for 5,000 Yen (~$63 USD). The show is taking place June 16-18, 2012 at the Tokyo Big Sight Convention Center.
Not only is Xovergen releasing a kit to make your Transformers Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime compatible with their Powermaster TrailerForce TF-01 upgrade set, but they are planning on releasing a completely retooled Classics/Henkei prime figure that will work with both their new Powermaster figure and the Generation 1 Powermaster figures as well! Despite the figure being heavily retooled I do not think it will affect the look of the robot mode as the kibble should just rotate to the back as it does on the original Classics/Henkei mold.
This week we feature an interview recorded at Botcon 2012 with with Dahveed Kolodny-Nagy as he tells us more about his Transformers fan documentary "Transform Me." Also on the show, comic news with Aimee Morgan and the guys talk about the strange state of the secondary Transformers Market.
Prime Megatron's design is actually quite nice. There's a clear lineage of modern Megatron designs leading back to the Movies, though I'd lay more of Megatron's aesthetic at the feet of Derrick J. Wyatt. I had a hard time seeing the connection between those two designs anyway, because Wyatt's Megatron doesn't look like an unfortunate accident at a silverware factory. Continue to full review

In a recent interview, Brian Tyler, the composer of the Transformers Prime soundtrack, has revealed how he approached the scoring the music for the show. The showrunners told him that they wanted something thematic (check) and epic (double-check). To be sure he hit that tone correctly, Mr. Tyler avoided the use of anything that sounded electronic and went with orchestral music. His work on the show led to a Daytime Emmy nomination last year in "Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition," although he did not win. The soundtrack is currently available for digital and physical consumption. The full video interview is available in the full article.
